May 17 On Tuesdays there are health care workshops at 1 pm, and a language class at 6:30 pm at Raccoon, as of May 17, on Wednesdays there is a writing workshop at AAWO at 6 pm, and on Thursdays there are soccer games at Cornell University at 8:30 pm. June 16 We invite you to join RACCOON as we unite with the V-Day global movement "Until the Violence Stops." Through an evening of burek, bellydance and burlesque we will bring the issue of violence against women and girls front and center. Breaking the boundaries of women's stereotypes, PURE (www.puredance.org) and the Barbarians (www.jzbich.com) will show us how. From 6 to 11 p.m. at Djerdan Restaurant, located at 221 West 38th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues).

July 9 SREBRENICA: COMMEMORATION AND PHOTO EXIBIT, by Lisa DiCaprio. Sunday, from 5-8pm
Lisa DiCaprio, Visiting Professor of History, Washington and Lee University will share a power point presentation with images from the 10th Commemoration that began on July 9th, 2005 the day on which four trucks arrived from Sarajevo with the 610 coffins to be buried on July 11th. This presentation relates to what we know now about the betrayal of Srebrenica, some of the latest developments in the campaign for justice, and the photo exhibit that educates new generation about what happened during the war in Bosnia.

September 9 September 11 rememberance with the family from Belgrade whose son died in the tragedy (private event).

October 10 Relationship Therapy Group - co-facilitated by Alexander and Sanja Ljubicic of Solutions Psychotherapy; 6 - 8:30 pm
Relationship workshop will explore challanges, problems, and crisis caused by immigration, cultural trauma, economic, financial struglles, negative way of thinking, rigidities, being "still crazy after all thise years" identity crisis, disappointments, living in a no man's land, coping with losses, being unprepared for the future, unable to relax, fear of making mistakes, lack of intimacy and pleasure. The presentors hope to bring greater understanding of the context of the relationships that will motivate participants to find solutions and make positive changes in their lives.

Annie Leibovitz - A Photographer's Life, 1990-2005 - Part of the exhibit portrays a trip to Sarajevo, B & H during the brutal civil war by famous writer Susan Sontag and her lover Annie Leibovitz. Driving from the airport to the hotel, a Serbian sniper killed an innocent child right in front of their eyes. Susan Sontag organized theater performance and lived in a basement bunker of newspaper "Oslobodenje."
