Buckling Up For the First Time
  • Through schools and organizations that deal with kids at risk we would look for 11-18 years olds that are willing to participate in an intense athletic program.
  • We are particularly interested in working with children of veterans, refugees, displaced people, victimized in any way or killed in war.
  • We are looking to mix groups from various ethnicities: children of refugees from Bosnia, children of Croatian veterans, children of Croatian Serbs who returned to Croatia, children of all ethnic groups in Bosnia
  • We look for children from families whose household is below the median income for their respective countries.
Statistics:
  • In year 2002/2003 Zagreb had 43,512 students enrolled in high schools.
  • In year 2001 12,387 people immigrated in Zagreb.
  • Serbs and Bosniaks constitute slightly more than 5% of Croatian population.
  • Migration balance for Croatia in period 1997-2001 is +136,988 people, roughly 3% of total population.
