RACCOON, Inc. (Reconciliation and Culture Cooperative
Network) is seeking a dynamic motivated individual to
serve as Development Organizer for an
innovative reconciliation and cultural program in New
York City.
Primary responsabilities inculde working to build
resources for a network of individuals and
organizations dedicated to communal healing and
self-reliance amongst people from the Wester Balkans.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate large and small events like house parties,
annual and outreach events.
Organizing direct mail production and distrubutions
with staff and volonteers.
Coordinate communications with stakeholders through
newsletter, listserv, web site and e-list
Writing organizational annual report and ongoing
program reports in a timely manner
Identifying potential professional development
opportunities and funding sources
Work collaboratively with program team to create and
implement joint activities and community projects to
reach out to various Balkan expatriate communities
Collaborate with program staff to support ongoing
activities, writing, women's workshops, and other
events.
Network and mobilize around education, public health
and cultural issues
Assist ethnic organizations and communtiy leaders with
development of organizing literature
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social sciences and experince
with organizing and resource developmet are preferred.
Previous organizing experience around trust building,
dialouge, and issues based adocacy.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Knowledge of and ability to establish rapport and
trust with persons from the Western Balkans.
Ability to take initiative; must be a team player who
enjoys collaborating with others in a team environment
in cooperative style
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; willingness
to learn new applications which may be design, video,
or web-related.
Knowledge of Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, or Albanian
language a plus.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary range from $24,000 -- $28,000, based on
experience
